Primary Election date set for Aug. 2, 2022

Amherst Township – At the end of May, the maps for the Ohio House and Ohio Senate districts were finalized via federal court order. In response, Secretary of State Frank LaRose, directed the Ohio County Boards of Elections to prepare for another primary election.

The date is now set for Tuesday, August 2, 2022, to hold the primary elections for Ohio House Representatives, Ohio Senators and State Central Committee. All 99 House Representatives and 17 of the 33 Senators will be up for election. All 66 members of each the State Central Committees, Democrat and Republican, will be up for election.

There will be no tax issues or local issues on the ballots so voters will need to select Democrat or Republican when asked which type of ballot they wish to vote on.

Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) ballots for military service members and others out of the country were sent out starting Friday, June 17.

Absentee ballots for all others will start to be mailed by the Ohio county boards of elections on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, the first day of in-person early voting.
